City of Los Angeles - The U-Liner pipe is pulled from an upstream manhole by cable to a downstream manhole.

U-Liner's turn key process insures proper installation. Prior to any installation, U-Liner Pipe is specially designed and manufactured for your project. Made in continuous lengths, the pipe is deformed and wound on a reel, or coiled, for easy transport. Once on the job site, the damaged host pipe is flushed to remove any blockage or debris. After a closed circuit TV inspection of the line and measurements of the lateral locations are made, the U-liner Pipe is pulled from an upstream manhole by cable to a downstream manhole. It is then cut for processing. A patented heat/pressure method is used to reform the U-Liner to fit the shape of the host pipe. Service connections are then restored with a remote controlled lateral cutter. The entire process is accomplished quickly, with little or no disruption to surface activity.

Flow is usually restored within a matter of hours. U-Liner has a 50+ year design life and should require no costly repairs in its service life. The smooth walled surface of U-Liner is self-cleaning reducing maintenance. When cleaning is required the use of a jetter truck is sufficient. No need for bucket and/or rodding machines

A Material Difference in Quality

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) has been accepted and used for environmentally sensitive projects for over 50 years. It has also been found that the surface smoothness and abrasion resistance of HDPE pipe improves flow capacity. HDPE also prevents the sticking of grease and other materials to the inner wall of the pipe.

A Recognized Standard in the Industry

Available in diameters ranging from 4" to 21", the U-Liner Pipe is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE-3408) and if required, medium density polyethylene (MDPE-2406). U-Liner also meets all ASTM standards including (F1533-94 and F1606-95) standards and specifications for deformed/reformed polyethylene liner pipe.

The U-Liner method allows work to be accomplished in a variety of environmentally sensitive areas. The U-Liner material and process allows installations to be accomplished in the most sensitive areas. The material can be hand carried into place and then pulled into place with a hand-operated winch. Steam lines are also carried into place, fusion welded and pressure is then introduced into the line. With little or no disruption to the surroundings. Now a line in an otherwise inaccessible area can be renewed. The U-Liner process allows engineers to review many projects thought too difficult to accomplish in the past.
